Rompin District Council
The Rompin District Council (MDR) is one of the Local Authorities (PBT) in the State of Pahang that is responsible for duties that include aspects of business control, enforcement, development control, taxation, cleanliness and so on in the Rompin district. The total population according to the 2000 census is 101,877 people.
The Rompin District Council was established on 1 July 1988 through Pahang State Gazette No. 501 dated June 14, 1988 with an administrative area of 127.23 square km.

It is said that once upon a time in this area there was a ru tree. The ru tree is unique compared to other ru trees that live cascading here because of its slender shape. At first people called this place as ru ramping, and over time the name of this place changed to rumpin and rompin.
