The town that developped near the confluence (kuala) of Rompin River was given the name Kuala Rompin. Kuala Rompin town which originated fom Kuala Rompin village is believed to have been opened by Datuk Pahlawan Ahmad in 1888. He was in service to the Sultan of Pahang at that time and because of his good service, the Sultan entrusted Kuala Rompin to Datuk Pahlawan Ahmad to take care and develop.
